Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release
create space in your body

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.

What is fascia?
Fascia is a connective tissue network that wraps around and interpenetrates every muscle, bone, artery, vein, nerve, and organ in your body. Think of it as a three-dimensional web that holds everything together, providing stability while allowing flexibility and movement.

Healthy fascia is relaxed and capable of movement and stretch without restriction. It’s composed of tiny, hollow tubules filled with fluid.

How does the fascia become restricted?
Living. Injuries or physical stress from falls, car accidents, whiplash, surgeries, or ongoing habits like poor posture and repetitive movements can build up over time, taking a toll on the body. These impacts cause changes in the fascia—affecting how we move, feel, and function day to day.

Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in any of the standard tests (x-rays, CAT scans, MRIs, etc.).

MFR treats the whole fascial web to eliminate the pressure, pain, and reduced range of motions caused by restrictions.

What happens during a myofascial release (MFR) treatment?
We specialize in the John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release Approach® to myofascial work.

Each treatment is performed directly on the skin without oils, creams, or machinery, enabling the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia.
